..That year Dj (Radical) Steely "The Chuner" enjoyed his 25th anniversary playing Jamaican Music for the public.
At an early age in 1982, inspired by Madness, Selector and The Police he started playing Dub, Reggae & Ska with "The Swing-a-Ling Posse" in a coffeeshop and under the name "RoundBeat" at his homebase. Those days he found a lot of 'musical directions' by listening/learning Studio One Music and through the years he became a very extreme collector/selector of Dub and original Jamaican 'sought after' 45's.
He is an all-round Reggae soundman and a Studio One 'riddim' specialist who loves consciousness, righteousness and mixing skills ... At home he still uses a 36 year old turntable he got from his dad when only 8 years old.
Last year (2010) he produced a Reggae 'Mash-Up' album with 12 remix tracks. A MashUp-tune is where you put an acapella on a total other riddim, for instance Buju Banton (vox only) meets The Wailers (riddim only).
Steely "The Chuner" is resident Dj for Poppodium Club VERA (Groningen, The Netherlands) where in 1997 he founded a Dj-Collective called "Dub Inferno Sound" that gave some men (almost monthly) an opport-unity to Dj or 'chat pon the mike'. Dub Inferno has guest Dj's, played at 'Lowlands' and '2.7's Splash', and since '98 every Queensday 'SoundSystem' Outdoors on the street in front of the VERA Club...
Through the years he spinned at 'nuff 'nuff places & parties and supported realy a lot of Reggae-artists with his 'RoundBeat Sound': Ziggy, Burning Spear, Sizzla, Turbulence, The Itals, Ethiopian, The Heptones, Shinehead, The Ska-Talites ... just to name a few... In 2007 "RoundBeat HiFi" played the whole weekend on the main stage at the Reggae Sundance Festival, (Eindhoven NL.) a wicked set as the only Dj in front of 40.000 swinging listeners... He also played several times (8) at the 'Dance Valley Festival' in the ChillOut-tent his mix of Chilly-TripHop-DownBeat-Dub riddims in the mixx (there is more than Reggae) plus he is the producer/manager for the Reggaetent at the GideonFestival (Groningen, NL.)
From 1982 on till now, he made hundreds of posters/flyers by hand, toured years with Dutch Ska band "Jammah Tammah" and won a Dj-contest in 1996 !
For over 12 years, he has his own internet-radio show at
www.nauticradio.net titled 'Jamaican style'. Playing in the dance, RoundBeat HiFi will bring you more NuSkool-Reggae, JamaicanDance and U.K. Dub, but on the radio he will spin mostly Revival Music with listeners from all over the world. (Check the cam & chat)
The last years Steely & Bro.Irie-T (w. Stevie-T & Marcus) are building a 'Sound System' which is ready now, so far, to play ROUNDBEAT MUZIK. Finally the website is under construction!
